Well, it’s early in the morning after our first day in Kuala Lumpur and that’s right we are still up!!! Here is why, after a full day of sightseeing we headed back to the hotel for some down time and to freshen up before experiencing Kuala Lumpur’s famous nightlife. Unfortunately this took us longer than expected. The draw to the computer seemed to be more than SOME of us could handle, but I finally managed to round up the crew and we headed out to one of the hotels restaurants for dinner.
We choose the famous Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant which apparently has been named one of the best restaurants in Malaysia, famous for authentic Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine. Some of the popular choices on the menu included Ma Po Toufu and Eight Treasure Seafood Soup. We weren’t quite that adventurous and opted for Chong Qing Diced Chicken with Spicy Chilli and Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles, both fantastic but very spicy. The experience was incredible; tea masters matched premium Chinese teas with our cuisine and displayed fabulous tea-pouring demonstrations form long-nosed bronze kettles. So Cool! I’m going to try and bring a kettle home as a souvenir.
Next on the agenda was some nightlife. Our waiter from the restaurant recommended a Karaoke bar across the street called Club de Vegas. Both our hotel and the club are within the famous Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur; an area famous for shopping and entertaining. So we walked across the street hoping for some good drinks and local entertainment. Well we got both, but not quite in the way we had planned. Part of the culture here is ‘social escorts', sweet young girls that accompany bored male patrons at the club on a drinking spree. Yes we had to relocate tables a few times during the night to avoid this awkward encounter, but after a few beers we had some fun with it. The most popular drink here is bottled beer, who knew! Somehow after a few buckets we lost track of how many, we watched our party embarrass themselves with versions of I’m too sexy, I touch myself and Barbie girl. Yup was time to call it a night. But don’t worry I have pictures!
